Hurricane Katrina 8/27/05 - 8/30/05 Blue Mountain Beach
Hurricane Katrina crossed over the southern peninsula of Florida and entered the Gulf of Mexico strengthening as it made it's way towards land. The effects of Katrina began to emerge two days before landfall. Beach erosion extended as far east as Panama City Beach, FL before Katrina devastated the gulf coast of Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Pictures of Blue Mountain Beach and Santa Rosa Beach area. Although the storm surge was not as big as with Hurricane Dennis, the beaches suffered additional erosion and some homes were further damaged.
